The Exsultet

The Exsultet is the hymn of praise sung, ideally by the deacon, before the paschal candle during the Easter Vigil in the Roman Rite of Mass. Last night, I photographed the Easter Vigil at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Downtown Louisville. I didn't know what to expect before I got there but was especially excited when the lights in the church dropped making it nearly pitch dark and the only light came from several candles held by parishioners. It was quite surreal.
