Below are photos from two rather different assignments but they both involve celebration. So I figure, what the hell, they can fit in the same blog post. Thanks for looking!

The Survivor
Russel Winsett, a Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS Pennsylvania, is 92 and one of the few survivors that's still alive today. Winsett still remembers the day in detail. Winsett was a machine gunner and said that the Japanese were flying so close, that he could see their eyes.

Golf: The Quiet Sport
I don't know what it is about golf. It seems that every time I photograph I get discouraged because it's usually exhausting, I have to lug around a 300 or 400mm lens, and you have to be very quiet and cautious while photographing it. Sports and quiet usually don't go together. Despite my initial reaction to it, I usually fall into a groove where I see these fans, reactions, stares, body languages, and various other nuances that interest me and then photograph them.
Anyway, I photographed an LPGA event a couple weeks ago over the span of about three days and here are some of the photos that I made. Thanks for looking.

Revisiting The Swamp
I never tire of the swamp buggy races. This time I got to photograph it alongside the weird one himself, Sol Neelman, and my fellow Daily Newser Dave Albers. Great times as usual. Thanks for looking everyone.

Florida Votes...or at least tries to
This past Tuesday, Barack Obama was re-elected President. I and nearly every news photographer in the country was out covering it one way or another. My duties for the day was hanging out with Governor Rick Scott while he voted in Naples and then heading to the polls to illustrate voters exercising their right. At one point, Florida was a crucial state in the election but in what seemed like an instant other state results pushed Obama into another four years as president.

Clinton Fired Up In Fort Myers
With only days before the presidential election, former president Bill Clinton made a quick stop in Fort Myers to speak on the behalf of President Obama. Seemed like it help more than hurt Obama's chances.
On a personal note, I've always wanted to photograph Clinton and it was a great time. He certainly had people enthralled and fired up. Thanks for looking!
