A Pleasant Surprise

The other day, when I thought my assignments were all finished, I was given one last gig to shoot before the end of the day. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't too excited about it. I was wiped out, and just wanted to get a good photo for the next day's paper and go home and relax. The assignment was a bike giveaway and I was told there's usually a decent photo to be had. I wasn't expecting much and I'm glad I wasn't because as time passed, several situations made for photographs I was happy with.

I guess the point of this blog post is that even those small town paper assignments aren't always the most exotic or intense, damn they can make for great photos. Another thing I learned is to never have too many expectations going into assignments. Sometimes those assignments that sound like barn burners turn out to be snoozers and those "lame" ones turn into gold.
