Around 4:30 on Friday afternoon, police forced their way into the home of Amanda Bennett and her three children. The police found Bennett and her children, Jasmine Abbot, 14, Katelyn Bennett, 9, and Ryan Bennett, 4, dead each with fatal gun shot wounds to the head. There is some speculation to what happened that afternoon. Some reports are saying that Amanda Bennett shot her children then turned the gun on herself. From what we gathered that day, a lot of people don't believe she would have done such a thing.
The writer and I spent some time with Jasmine's friends. They were pretty torn up speaking about the whole situation. It was tough to listen to. TamRa Stidham, who is in the last photo, was getting ready to go over to the Bennett home that very night when she heard the news. “I broke down and cried in the middle of the road,” TamRa, 15, said.
As I am writing this, I checked the Courier-Journal's website and it says that according to Indiana State Police, Amanda Bennett is the one who killed her four children and then herself.
It's hard to believe what some people can become after hardship.
