Day to Day

It's been about three months since I've started with the St. Petersburg Times and it has been a wild experience so far to say the least. Sometimes it feels like I never stop, which is good thing and an exhausting thing at times. Florida is unlike any other state I've been to. So many cultures and ways of life are here that it almost feels like you're in another state one minute and back in again. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it's been awhile since I updated my blog and I decided that I'd share some photos I've made recently and some of these aren't so recent. Comments, like always, are welcome and appreciated. Unless you are a person trying to sell me something in a language I do not understand, then don't write a comment. Muchos Gracias. Salud.

Came across these guys the other day getting their bikes fixed and ready to take on Tampa in the early evening hours of a Saturday night.

Republican Gubernational governor candidate, Rick Scott, made some final stops at his campaign office before the election the following day.

This clown was late. He was not a happy clown. Pleasant dreams.

Luis David Colón, 18, watches a rehearsal of Cinderella from the side stage area before he goes on stage to play the prince at the Patel Conservatory. Four years ago, before he was starring in plays, Colón was living in Puerto Rico and didn't speak any English. He came to America with his grandparents and attended Alonso High School. In October, he is going to New York City to the American Musical & Dramatic Academy with a full scholarship.

John and Amanda France pose for a portrait after they held a press conference at a Tampa hotel in hopes of clearing up confusion about their highly publicized marriage and the legal issues brought up by Lynn France. She says he is unlawfully married to a second woman, Amanda, and that she found out about their Disney World wedding on Facebook.

This was from a story about the residents of an apartment complex in Tampa where police thought murder suspect, Dontae Morris, was hiding out and raided two days prior. Police, ATF, FBI, US Marshalls, and other government forces raided the complex looking for him but didn't find Morris, who was wanted for the murder of two Tampa police officers. The residents who I spoke with weren't angry with police for constantly coming through their apartments, they were upset with how children, especially boys, are brought up these days. "They're surrounded by violence on television, video games, toy guns, all of it has an effect," said one resident. He was eventually caught. This week that he was on the loose was very exhausting.

Ballet practice at the Patel Conservatory.

Members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers await the signal before they take the field for their first practice in Raymond James Stadium of the season.

Basking in that Florida light.
