I recently did my Traditions column on a group of guys who have been hunting together for nearly 25 years. I had never been on an actual hunt before besides shooting at squirrels with a BB gun when I was younger. Being an impatient person at times, the idea of being decked out in orange and creeping through the woods was something that I had never seen the huge appeal for. After a couple of hours I saw why these guys do it. Hanging out with your buddies and laughing with the thought of shooting a deer at the back of your mind. I saw two doe during our time in the forest. It was crazy. I can't count how many times I've seen a deer from my car and thought nothing of it but when we saw those deer I had goosebumps. They couldn't shoot does. Even though they didn't get any deer the day was a success. There are more photos in a gallery on the Concord Monitor's site if you would like to see more.
