I traveled to Washington D.C. with some fellow WKU PJ's took photograph the inauguration of our first African American President, Barack Obama. I'm going to be honest and tell you that I was very nervous and excited going into this. The first day there were thousands of people walking around the National Mall taking part in history and I thought to myself, How will I approach the following day where over two million people are supposed to come to the nation's capital to see this historic event? The day came and I arrived downtown by Metro and walked through the streets until I reached the Capital building and saw swarms of confused people trying to get in with their tickets. The people working could not have prepared themselves for how many people were there. People with tickets were being directed to other entrances which made them angry and confused on how to get in. I then decided to focus my photos towards to the madness that was Inauguration Day. People were packed in like sardines in some areas which lead them to be angry or ill. People with merchandise constantly shouting to buy their shirts, buttons, etc. By the time Obama reached the stage to give his speech I arrived in the mall to watch on a screen. It seemed to me people thought all of the lines and craziness that day had was worth seeing history. I know I thought it was worth it. Here are some of my selects from the day and like always, feedback and criticism is always welcome and appreciated. Cheers.
