Down By the Wayside

This week's PJ assignment was titled Caregiver. When I knew of the assignment I traveled back to Louisville to find someone at Wayside Christian Mission. Wayside specializes in housing the homeless and giving them food . They also offer recovery programs for the addicted of Louisville. Jon Vincent, 48, is the coordinator of the program. He himself was an alcoholic for many years until he came to Wayside. He got help and met his current girlfriend, Priscilla, who was also an addict and alcoholic. Now Jon makes sure that everyone is going down the right path to recovery and if they're not he is the disciplinarian. "It's a tough job and it sometimes brings me way down, but I have to step outside of my own problems sometimes and help them out," says Vincent. He also leads the Down By The Wayside Choir which consists of people in recovery and a few employees. Let me know what you think.
