The Swing State: Kissimmee

For the past month, I along with others from the Naples Daily News have been working on a project tackling what it means to be the swing state of Florida. We explored various areas in Florida and sought to find out where each area stands politically and what they are looking for in a president. Naturally, each area had its own qualities and quirks. It was quite the experience looking for and photographing their qualities. I was assigned to the areas of Kissimmee, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and Fort Walton Beach. Over the next few days I'll share some of my favorite photos from my time.

Up first is Kissimmee. This trip was mostly spent on covering the president's stop in town along with a slice of the Puerto Rican population. Thanks for looking.

Friday Night Light

One of my favorite parts about covering high school football is the hour or two before the game and the things and people around it. Here are a handful of photos from last Friday's game. Thanks for looking.

A Rally Outside Of A Convention

Last week, I drove up to Tampa to cover two days of the circus surrounding the Republican National Convention. Covering this was quite the experience. I wasn't able to get inside so my time was spent with screaming protestors, RNC attendees in the city, lines of police and scores of my fellow photographers trying to get something interesting and different than everyone else. Below, you'll see a large selection of what I photographed over the two days. I apologize for the large edit, I couldn't/didn't want to edit it down further. It's my blog, so deal with it!

Thanks for looking everyone!

Scenes From Behind Reality

I recently spent some time with a production team who were filming a reality television show that fit with Naples rather well. It follows eight Naples residents while they compete in a "Dancing With The Stars" type of competition. The uniqueness of it is that all of the contestants are over 70. It's called, "Senior Prom." I really enjoy photographing things like this. These younger guys are busting their butts to produce a television show while these adorable seniors are trying to dance and listening close to instruction.

Unfortunately the story took a negative turn. The main producer's criminal past caught up to him and sidelined production. I didn't photograph with that in mind so I'm showing it to you how I saw it. Thanks for looking as always.
